Calculus 1
ETM1015
Synopsis
In this unit, you will learn several fundamental mathematical concepts and techniques in introductory and intermediate calculus. Specifically, you will be exposed to the fundamental concepts and important theories on sets and functions, limits and continuity, differentiation, integration, elementary matrix algebra including an introduction to matrices and vectors, elementary matrix operations, special matrices, inner products, outer products and norms of vectors, determinants of square matrices, inverse matrices, and using matrix algebra to present and analyse the linear regression model, and sequences and series including sequence, infinite series, the integral test, comparison tests, absolute convergence, the ratio and root tests, alternating series test, conditional convergence, power series, Taylor and Maclaurin series.
Upon unit completion, you will develop essential mathematical skills in differentiation, integration and algebraic manipulation which will provide sufficient expertise for use in the subsequent units.
