Overview
The web is where people encounter many of the tools, services and experiences that shape everyday digital life. This unit develops your ability to design and build effective web experiences by combining web technologies, user-centred design, accessibility, usability, media, and contemporary development practice.
You will learn how the web works, how web content is structured and styled, and how interactive front-end experiences are created using technologies such as HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The unit introduces design and pre-production practices for planning web content, layouts, navigation, interaction and media, with attention to accessibility, usability, compatibility, performance and communication with intended audiences.
You will use contemporary development tools, including artificial intelligence-enabled support, to assist with exploration, prototyping, implementation, testing and refinement while maintaining responsibility for understanding, validating and explaining the resulting work. You will create and evaluate web artefacts through iterative design and development activities, building practical capability in producing web experiences that are usable, accessible, technically sound and aligned with user needs.
