Responsible digitalisation
FIT5237
Synopsis
This unit aims to develop your understanding of the ways in which digital technologies, processes and systems can be responsibly designed, developed and implemented to contribute to global challenges of sustainability, equity and inclusion. You will explore the ways in which the digital transformation of processes and systems - particularly with data-driven and algorithmic technologies - can better recognise and respond to short, medium and long-term consequences and impacts on individuals, organisations, communities and societies. You will learn how to apply ethical design and human rights frameworks to information system design, development and deployment in a range of organisational contexts, and develop their critical thinking and writing skills.
Sourced from the Monash Handbook 2026.
