Requisites

Overview

This unit is an introduction to legal processes and principles, with a particular focus on their application within a digital context. In this unit, students will learn skills to analyse the laws and regulations that govern data and technology. If students are entering the course without having previously studied law, this unit will help them build a foundation in understanding case law and legislation and the implications of its application to a digital context. They will also have the opportunity to apply legal principles to authentic digital technology and law scenarios.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    Apply professional judgement to interpret legal conclusions and justify a considered opinion on case studies relevant to the application of digital technologies.

    Apply technical and legal knowledge to analyse the way in which future technological directions may develop and how these should be regulated by law.

    Exercise professional judgment in order to assess legal and policy issues and evaluate alternative constructions and justify a considered opinion.
