Learning outcomes

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

  1. 1

Model the propagation of sound in air and in water.

  2. 2

    Calculate basic noise measurement quantities.

  3. 3

Explain the concepts of scattering sound waves.

  4. 4

Understand the characteristics of noise sources and sound transduction.

  5. 5

Combine the concepts of noise source, noise path and noise measurement to examine the impact of a given noise source on its environment.
