Overview

Midwives are required to demonstrate effective leadership skills to translate evidence-based practice into complex health care and systems.  Therefore, you will explore leadership, education, and quality improvement, which are critical in addressing complex health care issues.
You will be introduced to key leadership theories and the significance of collaboration in interprofessional teams in the safe and respectful provision of maternity health care. 
To strengthen lifelong learning, you will explore and apply teaching and learning theories when working with your peers and in partnership with women. 
You will explore and apply the key concepts required for quality improvement processes in maternity care.

    Apply research literacy skills to translate evidence into practice.

    Demonstrate clinical competence based upon the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Midwife standards for practice and Code of conduct for midwives, and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM) International Code of Ethics for Midwives.
