Overview
This unit introduces you to key principles of preventive health. You will examine health promotion frameworks and theories that are used to promote health at a population level to compliment and contrast individual treatment. Topics examined include determinants of health, health education, supportive settings, community participation, policy advocacy, program planning and sustainability. Throughout the unit, the impact of intersectorial collaboration will be discussed to understand the influence of sectors outside of health on wellbeing. By the completion of the Unit, you will be expected to demonstrate an understanding of health promotion's key concepts, values and methods and their application to relevant public health priorities.
