Magnetic and spintronic materials
MTE3202
Synopsis
This unit is designed to cover a range of electronic and magnetic materials for advanced device applications such as information storage, energy storage, efficient power electronics and spintronics. Specific topics to be covered are electrical and electronic properties of different classes of materials such as dielectrics, ferroelectrics, superconductors and materials; magnetic properties - microscopic origin of magnetism in specific classes of materials, domains, technical magnetisation, coercivity and core loss, spin-dependent magneto-transport; and nanosize effects.
