Overview
In this unit you will have the opportunity to review anatomy, physiology and function of skin, explore the phases of wound healing, define different types of healing, as well as summarise cellular processes involved in wound healing. Learning opportunities will help you develop your critical appraisal skills in wound literature and analyse which factors enhance and/or delay healing. This knowledge will enable you to apply these principles into practice using case-based learning.

Distinguish the cellular physiology of acute and chronic wounds, and describe their typical clinical characteristics and appearance.

Critically appraise relevant evidence-based literature that will inform clinical practice when caring for those with acute or chronic wounds.

Determine all relevant factors that promote and delay wound healing in individuals with acute or chronic wounds.
