Therapeutic medication management
NUR5220
Synopsis
This unit will enable you to apply the principles of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics in the therapeutic management of medication in advanced practice settings. By demonstrating an understanding of prescribed medications on major body systems, you will be able to critically analyse medication regimes for discipline specific clinical conditions, utilising state and federal frameworks for clinical decision making.
Examining your role in therapeutic medication management, you will gain a critical understanding of the legal, ethical and professional accountabilities for which you are responsible within your scope of practice and area of specialisation. This will include the requirements for you to evaluate the effect of the social determinants of health on therapeutic medication management outcomes. You will also demonstrate the knowledge of health education for clients regarding self-management of medications within the Australian healthcare system, your scope of practice, and area of specialisation.
