Synopsis
Through this fundamental perioperative unit, you will gain a deeper theoretical understanding of both perioperative and peri-anaesthetic nursing practice to support your clinical role and clinical skills development. You will learn the skills to safely manage risk in elective and emergency situations; how to care for diverse patient populations, and the fundamentals of clinical leadership. Commencing your Masters level of study with this unit will provide you with the skills to examine evidence-based data, and apply clinically. You will gain confidence in application of the National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS), and the Australian College of Perioperative Nurses (ACORN) Standards to your current practice. This unit will deepen your anatomical and pathophysiological knowledge, and you will learn advanced data interpretation skills, vital for prioritising and planning perioperative and peri-anaesthetic care.
