Overview

Supporting individuals in maintaining optimal health is central to the role of nurses and midwives. Achieving this requires planning and implementing targeted health education strategies, based on health education theories and tailored to meet the specific needs of each individual.

This unit explores advanced concepts in health education, emphasising a health-promoting perspective within health care professional practice. You will critically engage with health education theories, principles and strategies, and examine their role in enhancing health outcomes across diverse populations. Emphasising person-centred care, you will learn to design comprehensive health education plans that reflect an understanding of the individual's unique health requirements, preferences, and circumstances.
