Intensive care nursing 2
NUR5924
Synopsis
This unit builds upon the foundations established in the unit NUR5923 in relation to the assessment and management of patients with complex disease processes. You will extend your skills, expertise and knowledge, learn to manage complex critically ill patients presenting with multiple organ dysfunctions and measure the efficacy of advanced intensive care therapies and interventions.
This unit also examines unique psychosocial and ethical factors that may impact the intensive care nurse's complex decision making, and family and patient centred care in end of life care and organ donation situations. You will develop skills to provide an advanced level of care to intensive care patients and their families across age, socio-cultural and economic groups. At the same time you will be encouraged to explore the characteristics of high performing teams in ICU and role model leadership attributes in your workplace.
