Overview

This unit builds on the basic concepts of nutrition. It will take a lifespan approach looking at how nutrition supports healthy development from pre-conception to old age. This will include the relationship between nutrition and physical activity at each life stage. It will cover nutrition requirements, stages of development regarding health and eating behaviours and life stage or behaviour specific nutrient interactions.

This unit will also consider the role of nutrition in vulnerable groups incorporating aspects of the psychology of health behaviours and social justice.

This unit will also cover some of the cultural, personal, economic and social factors influence health behaviours specific to each life stage
