Overview
In this unit you will examine the context, scope and role of clinicians working in urgent, primary and community-based care. The unit focuses on person-centred culturally safe and evidence-informed approaches to triage, assessment, clinical reasoning, escalation, referral and safety netting for patients with lower-acuity and undifferentiated presentations. You will explore common urgent and primary care presentations, diagnostic decision support, medication and infection prevention governance. You will also consider safety netting, documentation, result follow-up, referral, communication with usual care providers and clinical governance processes that support continuity and safety across the patient journey.
