Requisites

Overview

Introduction to Psychological Inquiry is designed to provide you with an introduction to the ways in which psychological knowledge is created and explores the methods employed by psychologists to find answers to problems involving human behaviour.

At the conclusion of this unit, you will have developed a greater understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of a wide range of approaches and techniques used to produce knowledge in the discipline of psychology.

You will develop the reflexivity, critical and ethical thinking, and communication skills that are foundational to all psychological inquiry.

This unit is designed to prepare you to undertake advanced studies in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and will improve your psychological literacy and become a critical consumer of psychological knowledge.

Induction tutorial: 1 hour in Week 1 of semester

Preparation: Eight hours background reading/preparation for lectures, tutorials and assessment tasks per week.

Attendance at tutorials is recommended in order to successfully complete in-class activities and related assessment tasks.
