Overview

In this unit you will explore key concepts in social psychology and personality theory, including the history and philosophy of, and evidence for, competing theories.These theories will be applied and critiqued in light of contemporary evidence.
The replication crisis and the methods used to develop personality tests and theories will be presented to highlight contemporary issues in the relative fields of study.
Lectures and tutorial classes will help you to apply psychological concepts to yourself and others, and gain an understanding of how personality and social psychology influences individual and interpersonal attitudes, behaviour, cognitions and decision making.

    Explain the historical and current theory on social processes, and relate these to both individual factors and interpersonal relationships

    Apply social psychology theories to a range of contemporary social questions

    Critically evaluate research findings that relate to social psychology and personality theories.                                                                        

Workload and teaching

Induction tutorial: 1 hour in Week 1 of semester
