Overview

This unit introduces you to the business, marketing and management principles required for the successful operation of a physiotherapy business. The concepts of microeconomics and entrepreneurship are introduced and applied to physiotherapy.
The influence and requirements of funding models including private health insurance, Medicare, TAC, Workcover, DVA and NDIS will be analysed with respect to their impact on a physiotherapy business. The clinical and operational governance structures within a range of physiotherapy settings will also be compared. 
This unit will also allow you to consolidate context-specific pre-employment information and processes required for employment including legal and contractual considerations.

    Apply the business and marketing skills including digital health tools and interventions required for physiotherapy practice.

Workload and teaching

This is a self-paced online unit undertaken by students around their clinical placement schedules. All content is accessible at the commencement of the semester. There are approximately 2-3 hours of prepared materials for each of the 10 topics including on-demand lectures, podcasts, e-books, prescribed readings, and other learning activities. The average time required for the dedicated online tasks, private study, and preparation for assessment tasks is 12 hours per week, inclusive of a 1 hour online tutorial.
