Overview
This unit extends a health practitioner’s existing knowledge of pathology to enhance their capacity to accurately identify and interpret x-ray images.
The unit will address the current understanding of diseases affecting the musculoskeletal, cardio-respiratory, abdominal and neurological systems.
Students will examine ways in which pathology affects normal physiology and consider the consequences of this understanding for the accurate interpretation of x-ray images including CT images.

Compare and contrast characteristics that distinguish between benign and malignant bony lesions.

Differentiate pulmonary lesions and in particular evaluate the clinical presentations that indicate primary pulmonary malignancy.

Critically evaluate the range of pathologies that can cause an acute abdomen in various demographics.

Analyse CNS pathologies, with particular comparisons between CNS infections.

Analyse how radiographic images correlate with the underlying pathology in various systems.
