Magnetic resonance imaging: Advanced imaging techniques

Synopsis
This unit extends knowledge of the basic physical principles and imaging methods of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to include the MRI imaging techniques associated with cardiac and cardiovascular imaging, diffusion, perfusion and susceptibility weighted imaging.
Clinical indications and the preparation of the patient including positioning methods for these advanced techniques will be addressed. Sequence adaptations required to conform to clinical presentation, along with modifications to equipment will be considered.
The unit will conclude with an examination of the application of quality assurance principles to advanced MR imaging.
