    This unit was very easy, especially considering I had never studied statistics before. I would think that putting in the required time (which really isn't that much) each week would be enough for most students to understand the material and achieve an HD.

Enrolment rules

PROHIBITION: STA1010, ETC1000, ETW1000, ETW1102, ETX1100, FIT1006, MTH1030 and ENG1005.
Note that SCI1020 is an introductory unit and if you have already completed one of these prohibited units you cannot subsequently enrol in SCI1020. If you have completed MTH1030 or ENG1005 should enrol in STA1010 instead.

Overview

This unit will introduce to you the principles of data production and the practical application of descriptive and inferential statistical techniques to real-world problems in various scientific fields. You will develop skills during applied classes including collaborative problem solving and using Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis of real world problems. Upon completion, you will be able to make informed statistical decisions and communicate your findings in a clear and scientifically meaningful manner.
