Overview

This unit design is to facilitate student exposure to and understanding of core social work frameworks for assessment and intervention in their role in social work practice.  This unit builds on the foundational knowledge of social work assessment and intervention that you developed through engagement with the foundations for social work practice units in year 1.

This unit introduces you to a number of the various key sub-specialties in social work practice with people who experience health and mental health challenges, learn how theory informs effective recovery-oriented practice in social work and learn how to deliver culturally appropriate trauma-informed care in your approach to and interventions with people experiencing health and mental health difficulties.
