Overview

Agentic software engineering develops your ability to design, build, verify and operate software systems that incorporate artificial intelligence agents, autonomous workflows and AI-assisted development practices. You will learn how contemporary software engineering is changing as developers work with AI tools, integrate agentic components into applications, and design systems that can reason, act, coordinate and adapt within defined constraints.

The major combines strong software engineering foundations with emerging capability in agentic systems. You will build skills in AI-powered software development, object and data modelling, verification and validation, system architecture, integration, software security or algorithms, and cloud or architecture options. You will also examine the safety, assurance and governance challenges that arise when software systems include agentic behaviour.

This major prepares you for roles in software engineering, AI-enabled software development, agentic systems engineering, software architecture, quality assurance, cloud application development, technical product development and emerging roles focused on building reliable, governable AI-assisted and AI-integrated software systems.

Availability
Agentic software engineering is listed in C2000 Bachelor of Information Technology at Clayton as a major.

Note: This major is also offered at Malaysia campus to provide students with the opportunity to pursue studies in this area.
