Overview

This specialisation will introduce you to comparative perspectives on the theory and practice of international development, and frameworks for understanding the environmental impacts of development and for working towards sustainability. You will gain rigorous theoretical and practical training in analysis of international development practices and programs. The specialisation recognises that international development is a dynamic and changing sector, and will equip you with knowledge and skills to work in the sustainability and community development sector in Australia and internationally.

Part B. Specialisation preparatory studies24 credit points

International development and environment electives

12 credit points
You must complete two units (12 credit points) from the following OR any Part C. Specialist unit from any specialisation in S6002 Master of Environment and Sustainability OR with permission from your Specialisation Coordinator, you may take any Level 5 unit at Monash relevant to your studies. You must consult with the unit coordinator to ensure you have the cognate knowledge to undertake the unit.
Part C. Specialist studies24 credit points
You must complete the following three units (18 credit points) AND one Level 5 unit (6 credit points) from the list of International development and environment electives OR any Part C. Specialist studies unit from any specialisation in S6002 Master of Environment and Sustainability OR with permission from your Specialisation Coordinator, you may take any Level 5 unit at Monash relevant to your studies. You must consult with the unit coordinator to ensure you have the cognate knowledge to undertake the unit.
