Overview

Designed for current and aspiring school leaders in mathematics, this specialisation explores the research and scholarship that underpins approaches to creating and leading transformative and inclusive mathematics education that is relevant for 21st century learners. Throughout the specialisation you will develop expertise in mathematics knowledge for teaching, and fostering and leading improvement in mathematics teaching.  You will have the opportunity to build collegial relationships, discuss your research and scholarship outcomes, and learn with and from your fellow students.

Availability: This specialisation is available on a cohort basis only.  It is offered on a part time basis only.

You will complete Option 1 or Option 2 below

Option 1 - Complementary studies

24 credit points
You must complete 24 credit points of approved level 4/5 units from the following Faculty of Education graduate coursework programs: D4005 Graduate Certificate of STEM Education; D6002 Master of Education; D6005 Master of TESOL; D6013 Master of Educational Leadership; D6015 Master of Applied Behaviour Analysis.

Option 2 - Pathway to graduate research

24 credit points
A pathway to graduate research (e.g. master by research, PhD) is available if you have achieved a weighted average mark of at least 75% in the units of this course. PLEASE NOTE: If you are invited into this pathway, you must enrol in the units listed below; if you are invited into this pathway and have been admitted into the course at entry level 3, you must transfer into the general education studies specialisation; on-campus attendance is required for this pathway; and this pathway is not available at the point of entry.
