Program requirements
All graduate research students are required to complete compulsory modules as part of their enrolment, including:
- Monash Graduate Research Induction (online)
- Research Integrity (online)
- Respectful Research at Monash (online)
- Cultural Foundations: Building your knowledge of Australia's First Peoples (online)
- Faculty and School inductions
- A coursework component
In addition, students may be required to undertake occupational health and safety training, project specific research ethics training, or other professional and skills development as relevant to their research project.
PhD students must complete up to two compulsory coursework units, assessed at enrolment and tailored to existing qualifications and experience, normally prior to the confirmation milestone:
- MPH6040 Introductory epidemiology
- A relevant methodology unit (MPH6041 Introductory biostatistics or MPH6215 Qualitative research methods)
Students are also required to complete the 'Ethics and good research practice' short course delivered by the Department of Epidemiology and Preventive Medicine within their first year of enrolment.
