Overview
This double degree course gives you the opportunity to explore global cultures, learn the intricacies of global economies, develop your leadership skills and combine your studies with overseas travel.
Studying both commerce and global studies will enable you to explore from a multidisciplinary perspective how economic, political, social and technological decisions are made across the world.
You will learn about the challenges facing all cultures and communities, such as peace and conflict, the rich-poor gap, and crime and justice, and be able to combine these with an understanding of the commercial realities all countries face.
Overseas study costs
This course includes a compulsory overseas study component which can be met through any combination of overseas study including: the Global Immersion Guarantee, Global Campus Intensives, exchange or study abroad or any international study tour units. There are a range of overseas study options and students should refer to the faculty's study abroad webpage for more information including additional costs, as well as opportunities for funding*.

You will complete your Bachelor of Global Studies specialist knowledge and one major in the Bachelor of Commerce. Where you have space in your degree you may complete a second major with no more than two units contributing towards both of your chosen majors or towards both a major and the specialisation.

Note: If you are completing the Accounting major as part of your double degree, please note ECX2953 is required for professional accreditation and can be completed in Part A instead of ECC1000, and you will not be required to complete ECC1100.

Commerce
B2001 Bachelor of Commerce is a comprehensive course, structured in three equal parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:
Part A. Commerce specified study
This will provide you with a broad foundation for your study of commerce and expose you to several commerce disciplines. This will contribute breadth to your knowledge of commerce and address the graduate course outcomes. It will also give you the opportunity to learn more about each discipline before finalising your choice of major.
Part B. Commerce listed major
This will provide you with a focused program of study that will develop your expertise in one discipline area. You will develop, apply and communicate an advanced level of understanding of the concepts and theoretical frameworks that constitute the knowledge base of your major area of study.
Global Studies
A2001 Bachelor of Global Studies course is a specialist course structured in three parts. In the double degree course you complete the following two parts:
Part A. Global studies core
You will compare and contrast a range of global challenges and solutions in different historical, linguistic, cultural, and geographical settings, focussing especially on developing an understanding of effective collaboration, communication and leadership across a range of contexts.
Part B. Global studies specialist knowledge
You will gain in-depth knowledge of a specific facet or facets of global studies through units grounded in a wide variety of humanities and social science disciplines. These units will provide you with the practical and theoretical skills needed to critically analyse, communicate and formulate innovative solutions to global challenges.
Course progression map

You must complete 192 credit points, of which 96 credit points are from the Bachelor of Commerce (including all the requirements in Part A and B for the single degree) and 96 credit points from the Bachelor of Global Studies (including all of the requirements in Part A and B for the single degree).
You can enrich your degree to hone your academic and professional skills with a range of Flagship Rich Educational Experiences (FREE), including the Research, Experimentation and Discovery, Monash Innovation Guarantee, Global Immersion Guarantee and Volunteering. These flagship rich educational experience units may be credited in place of your additional commerce unit if approved by the faculty, or alternatively utilising your replacement units. There are both 6 and 12 credit point unit options available.

Applicants will require a minimum 70% average to be considered for selection. Preference will be given to applicants whose prior studies are related to the course. Programs that involve competency-based assessment without grades or marks will not be sufficient to meet admission requirements.

Higher education studies:
