Overview
This is a prestigious program of coursework and research in commerce for high achieving students who have completed a relevant undergraduate degree. It involves undertake research methodology training and carry out an independent research project in your selected discipline, working closely with a supervisor who will provide you with individual guidance and academic counselling. The handbook's description of this structure
This course consists of a combination of coursework and research. In the coursework component you will develop advanced theoretical and/or technical knowledge of your discipline and appropriate research methodologies. In the research component you will plan and execute a research project under the individual guidance of an academic supervisor.
This course comprises 48 credit points as specified below by discipline.
Honours studies may be taken as single honours (a single discipline over one year of full-time study), or in some instances can be taken as combined honours (more than one discipline over one year of full-time study). You need to discuss with the relevant Honours Coordinator if interested in undertaking combined honours.
Accounting
You must complete
a. the following five units (42 credit points):
- ACX4000 Research methods
- ACX4019 Research project 1 (12 credit points)
- ACX4020 Research project 2 (12 credit points)
- ACX4070 Issues in financial accounting and auditing
- ACX4090 Issues in management accounting and systems
b. You must also complete an additional Level 5 Accounting unit (6 credit points), to be chosen in consultation with the Accounting Honours coordinator.

Actuarial studies
You must complete:
a. The following four units (30 credit points):

b. Three units (18 credit points) from the following:
- ETC4400 Statistical theory and practice
