This course provides an innovative and industry-focused graduate program, with a strong emphasis upon professional development, business practice and social responsibility. It will suit a wide range of prospective students, primarily candidates without prior studies, in traditional business skills.

You can complete general studies in business in this course, enabling you to tailor your unit choices to suit your own interests or needs; providing an opportunity to explore a wide variety of business disciplines or to focus unit selection to a specific area of interest. The course also offers the option of completing a specialisation in vital areas of business practice such as contemporary management; entrepreneurship; international business; marketing; responsible business governance; financial and risk management; strategic communications management and supply chain management. 

You can expect to graduate from this program with a distinctive set of professional and technical skills which will enable you to assist businesses to succeed in complex and dynamic environments, while simultaneously confronting the increasing social constraints ahead.

The course is structured in three parts: Part A. Advanced preparatory, Part B. Mastery knowledge and Part C. Application studies.

Part A. Advanced preparatory

These studies will introduce you to core business disciplines and the impact they have within organisations. The units cover various disciplines and further your understanding of complex business environments.

Part B. Mastery knowledge

The focus of these studies is to develop your specialist expertise in a business discipline and provide the research skills or knowledge needed either to undertake independent research or for the capacity to work and communicate across the borders of discipline, context or culture.

Part C. Application studies

The focus of these studies is professional or scholarly work that can contribute to a portfolio of professional development.

Master's entry points

Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:

  • If you are admitted at entry level 1 you must complete 96 credit points, comprising Part A, Part B and Part C.
  • If you are admitted at entry level 2 you must complete 72 credit points, comprising Part B and Part C.
  • If you are admitted at entry level 3 you must complete 48 credit points, comprising Part Ba. (24 credit points) and 24 credit points from Part Bb. and Part Bc.

Note 1: If you are admitted at entry level 3 you will be unable to complete a specialisation.
Note 2: If you are eligible for credit for prior studies you may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.
