Overview

Businesses face increasingly complex regulation and compliance issues that span local, federal and international levels. As a result, there is a growing demand across all industries for business professionals with up-to-date knowledge of the complex regulatory environment businesses operate within, and the ability to manage world-class compliance programs.

The Master of Regulation and Compliance is aimed at professionals who want to gain specialist regulation and compliance knowledge. With a focus on business regulation and law, and best practice in compliance, you will develop the skills required to interpret and navigate regulatory requirements and implement world-class compliance solutions. This flexible degree provides you with the ability to opt for breadth, or concentrate in a number of areas, including corporate governance, banking and finance regulation, corporate sustainability, employment, or the global regulatory environment. With the opportunity to also undertake an international study experience, you'll graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to enhance your career in the private, public or third sector.

As part of the Master of Regulation and Compliance, you can choose to attend the Berkeley Haas Global Access Program for one semester, and receive a Berkeley Haas certificate. For more information refer to the Monash Business School site.

Part A. Mastery knowledge48 credit points

Additional Regulation and compliance units

36 credit points
You must complete six units (36 credit points) selected from any of the following streams.
Part B. Electives24 credit points
You must complete 24 credit points of electives at Level 5 from the Faculty of Business and Economics, which could include study tours, consulting projects or industry placements. In addition units may be selected from across the University as long as you have met the prerequisites and there are no restrictions on enrolling in the units.

The course is structured in two parts. Part A. Mastery knowledge and Part B. Electives

Part A. Mastery knowledge

The focus of these studies is to develop your knowledge and skills as a critical and creative business professional who can apply your understanding and knowledge of regulatory and compliance issues in contemporary business and management contexts.

Part B. Electives

The focus of these studies is to contribute to a portfolio of professional development that enables you to expand your knowledge and skills in the realm of regulation, compliance and related disciplines. Electives may be taken from study tours, consulting projects or industry placements. Alternatively you can select units from across the University in which you are eligible to enrol.

Master's entry points

Depending on prior qualifications you may receive entry level credit (a form of block credit) which determines your point of entry to the course:

  • If you are admitted at entry level 1 you complete 72 credit points, comprising Part A and Part B.
  • If you are admitted at entry level 2 you complete 48 credit points, comprising Part A.

Note: Students eligible for credit for prior studies may elect not to receive the credit and complete one of the higher credit-point options.
