Designed for professionals working in early childhood education who seek to broaden their knowledge and skills in early childhood education and care, this course will prepare you for a career as a skilled, critical and effective educator teaching infants and children from birth to five years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools. Building on your early childhood expertise, the course provides you with a strong foundation for transformative leadership and engages with the holistic and integrated nature of early childhood education with specific foci on: play, science, technology and mathematics. Successful completion of this course will provide you with a pathway to the Monash Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Education which is a professional accredited and industry recognised teaching qualification within Australia.

The course is structured in two parts. You must complete Part A. Early childhood education studies and Part B. Applied professional experience.
Part A. Early childhood education studies
These studies will provide you with core knowledge and skills relevant to thoughtful and innovative based practice within early childhood education. You will acquire an understanding of the broad principles of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment that underpin the teaching and learning of infants and children from birth to five years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools.
Part B. Applied professional experience
Through the completion of supervised placement in early childhood settings, these studies will allow you to extend the specific professional knowledge and teaching skills needed to engage young children in inspiring and exciting learning experiences.
