Designed for experienced early childhood educators who want to advance their career, the course aims to provide you with a strong foundation for transformative leadership, with the capacity to build sustainable communities, and to educate young children to become engaged 21st century citizens.
The course builds on your strength as an early childhood educator and extends and reconfigures your knowledge and practice. This course will prepare you for a career as a skilled, critical and effective educator teaching infants and children from birth to five years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools. Closely connected with the prestigious Fleer’s Conceptual PlayLab, the course encompasses the holistic and integrated nature of early childhood education with specific foci on: play, science, and sustainability.
During the course you will undertake professional experience which will allow you to extend the specific professional skills needed to engage young children in inspiring, exciting and challenging learning experiences.

The course comprises 48 credit points structured into two parts: Part A. Early childhood education studies and Part B. Applied professional experience.
Part A. Early childhood education studies
These studies will provide you with core and advanced knowledge and skills relevant to thoughtful, innovative and evidence-based practice within early childhood education. You will acquire an understanding of the broad principles of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment that underpin the teaching and learning of infants and children from birth to five years of age in childcare, kindergartens and preschools.
Part B. Applied professional experience
Through the completion of supervised placement in early childhood settings, these studies will allow you to extend the specific professional knowledge and teaching skills needed to engage young children in inspiring, exciting and challenging learning experiences.

English language
Monash Level D, that is: IELTS (Academic): 7.0 overall (no band lower than 7.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 65 overall with no band lower than 65; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score 98 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 27, Listening: 24, Reading: 24 and Speaking: 23; or Equivalent approved English test
