Overview

This course prepares selected psychology graduates for general registration as a psychologist in a range of settings in Australia. On completion of the course, you will have acquired the necessary psychotherapeutic and assessment skills and professional knowledge to undertake a final year of supervised practice in the field and obtain general registration under the '5 + 1 internship model' for registration.

The course will develop you as an independent professional with a commitment to applying the theoretical, research, assessment and therapeutic skills involved in psychology. It will develop your ability to think critically, reflexively and analytically about the processes involved in psychology. Guided by sound ethical principles, the competencies required to practise as a psychologist are developed through your collaborative participation in coursework, workshops, professional development and professional experience activities under the supervision of experienced practitioners. This course is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) as a generalist fifth year of study (APAC Level 3).
