Overview
The aim of this unit is to develop general professional psychological competencies to assess cognitive abilities and certain neuropsychological constructs. You will undertake advanced exploration and analysis of the psychological testing process, including scholarly consideration and debate of psychometric approaches to cognitive and intellectual assessment across the lifespan. Theories and methods of assessment, issues of validity and reliability, cultural and ethical considerations, and linguistic factors will be considered. You will acquire skills in the administration, scoring and interpretation of pertinent psychological tests, integration of assessment data from multiple sources, and appropriate report writing. You will also develop skills in constructive critical appraisal and clinical judgment for assessing learning difficulties, intellectual disability, giftedness, memory, and information processing across a range of client groups. Case conceptualisation and intervention planning skills will also be developed.

A. On campus delivery
24 hours of scheduled learning delivered on campus via weekly/regular directed learning activities; and

B. Flexible delivery
24 hours of scheduled learning of which 6 hours will be delivered on campus and 18 hours will be delivered online via a combination of synchronous and asynchronous directed learning activities; and
the remaining hours to be allocated towards self-directed/independent study
Scheduled learning activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
