Overview
The Graduate Diploma of Legal Studies is designed to equip non-lawyers with the legal skills and knowledge they need to make better managerial and commercial decisions and to lead their organisations effectively. You will receive a theoretical and practical grounding in a variety of areas in law.
This course provides you with the legal knowledge that will give you a competitive edge in your chosen career.

The handbook's description of this structure
The course consists of eight units. You can choose units from a selected list of Monash Law's postgraduate electives to gain the legal knowledge that will give you a competitive edge in your chosen career. Depending on your interests and motivation you can choose a program of study in which you will plan and execute a research-based project with a high level of personal autonomy and accountability.

The course comprises 48 points of legal studies structured in two parts, Part A Introductory knowledge and Part B Extending specialist knowledge
Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated.
Part A Introductory knowledge (6 points)
You must complete one of the units below:
LAW5000 Australian legal reasoning and methods
LAW5081 Australian legal process and research
Part B: Extending specialist knowledge (42 points)
You must complete seven units, which can be taken from any one or more of the specialisations listed below (not all units are offered every year).

Monash Level A that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test
