Overview
This course will provide you with knowledge in the science and practice of psychology. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of statistical concepts and the choice of a unit exploring ethics, evidence-based approaches to psychological assessment and intervention, psychology in industry and contemporary topics in the field.
This course offers an alternative pathway to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (GDPA) if you're unable to gain direct entry.

The course comprises two units where you will be introduced to psychology at a graduate level.

Entry requirements
English language
Monash Level A, that is: IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no band lower than 6.0); or Pearson Test of English (Academic): score of 58 overall with no band lower than 50; or TOEFL Internet-based test: score of 79 overall with minimum scores: Writing: 21, Listening: 12, Reading: 13 and Speaking: 18; or Equivalent approved English test

Progression to further studies
Successful completion of this course may provide a pathway* to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (M5003) with credit for the two units, subject to satisfying the appropriate course entry requirements.
*To pathway to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced (M5003), students must:
- Pass with an average of 60 across the two units AND
- Not fall below 55 in any unit (this includes not failing any unit).
Should a student fail any unit within the Professional Certificate of Human Behaviour and Applied Research (M9005), they may repeat it in accordance with the university’s coursework enrolment procedure for the opportunity to complete the Professional Certificate course. However, in such cases, students will not be eligible for progression to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced unless the results for all failed units are changed to Withdrawn (WDN). The university will grant WDN only under special circumstances. Students may refer to the eligibility criteria for WDN and may seek guidance from the university if seeking to apply for a WDN grade. Should a student have any failed units changed to WDN, they must repeat these, and meet both course entry requirements 1 and 2 listed above, in order to be eligible to progress to the Graduate Diploma of Psychology Advanced.
Note: credit may be granted towards other Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Science postgraduate courses upon successful completion.
