P9001 Professional Certificate of Advanced Pharmacy Practice

This course comprises 12 credit points structured into two parts: Part A. Core studies, Part B. Specified elective studies.

Part A. Core studies

In this part of the course, you will select at least one core unit of study to advance your professional expertise in evidence-based practice and therapeutic decision-making within acute, primary or aged care contexts.

Part B. Specified elective studies

In this part of the course, you will select study that suits your career aspirations, allowing you to advance your knowledge and skills in more specialist clinical or professional fields of practice. Electives comprise of assessed short courses (i.e. microcredentials) and approved units.

The course progression map will provide guidance on unit enrolment for each semester of study.

The course comprises 12 points structured into two parts: Part A. Core studies and Part B. Specified elective studies.

Units are 6 points unless otherwise stated.

Part A. Core studies (6 points) 

You must complete 1 unit (6 points) from the following:

• PGC5101 Evidence based practice
• PGC5102 Advanced therapeutic decision-making: Acute care
• PGC5116 Geriatric disease state management

Part B. Specified elective studies (6 credit points) 

You must complete 6 points of study from the following:

• PGC5110 Infectious disease pharmacotherapy
• PGC5117 Mental Health 
• PGC5118 Palliative Care
• Additional unit from Part A
• Monash University Medication Management Review Training Program (MUMTP)*
• Monash University Aged Care On-site Pharmacist Training Program (MUATP)*
• Pharmacy Administration and Leadership* 
• Developing a research protocol*
• up to 6 points of complementary study**

* If you are a registered pharmacist in Australia, you may choose to complete one of the approved microcredentials in place of one 6 credit point elective unit. You may complete the microcredential prior to or during your enrolment in this course.

Note:

The administrative unit code for the MUMTP microcredential is PMC5001 Medication management review training program.

The administrative unit code for the MUATP microcredential is PMC5003 Aged care on-site pharmacist training program.

The administrative unit code for the Pharmacy Administration and Leadership microcredential is PMC5002 Pharmacy Administration and Leadership.

The administrative unit code for the Developing a research protocol microcredential is PMC5004 Developing a research protocol.

** Study will be assessed by the course director, to ensure the proposed study is not substantially similar to units offered within the faculty and offer equivalency of content and learning outcomes, and whether there is significant educational advantage for the proposed program of study. Consideration will be given to microcredentials offered by the faculty (listed above) and assessed versions of short courses/microcredentials offered by Monash Centre for Scholarship in Health Education (MCSHE) and the Monash School of Clinical Sciences.
