Overview
Global interconnections, transnational flows, and fluid information require today's leaders to be equipped with cultural intelligence capabilities to successfully lead diverse organisations and employees. Traditionally, leadership effectiveness is grounded in embracing differences in order to transform challenges triggered by diversity in organisational strengths. More recently, global leadership has been defined as the process of influencing followers from multiple cultures to adopt a shared vision through structures and methods that facilitate positive change in a context characterised by significant levels of global complexity and connectivity.
21st century graduates as future global leaders must develop professional capabilities that allow them to demonstrate intercultural leadership in different contexts. Intercultural and inclusive leaders understand their own biases and cultural lenses shaping their behaviours while being able to adapt and adjust across differences to maximise intercultural opportunities arising in globally diverse settings. The unit focuses on the nexus between leadership and culture, analysing the roles of cultural intelligence in supporting a more intercultural and inclusive leadership style.
