Synopsis
The unit consist of two sections: Intermediate 1 Language (50%) and Culture (50%):
- Language: this unit extends the basic language skills - listening, speaking, reading and writing - through the use of contemporary written, aural and audio-visual materials representing selected situations and registers, and aspects of Italian history and culture. You will consolidate and extend your grammatical knowledge and vocabulary at level A2 of the European Language Framework.
- Culture: an introduction to key aspects of medieval Italian history, society and culture and their connections to the present. In particular this unit introduces you to major medieval writers and artists, with a focus on the development of the Italian language, and on issues of gender, politics and social mobility.
