Global futures: Applied research and communication project

ATS3111

Synopsis

In this unit you will build on the foundations of level 1 and 2 Global Studies units, consolidating your knowledge of the global, of agency and of social change through an applied research and communication project. . You will have the opportunity to explore one key issue in depth, connected broadly to place, displacement or borders,  and understand how it manifests locally and the implications for change and global belonging. A particular focus will be on narrative and the collective imaginary: how do the stories we tell influence understanding, action, and possible futures? The unit will provide you with a forum to bring together both the discipline-specific and interdisciplinary skills that you have acquired over your degree, and to engage with diverse perspectives, including those external to the university, to reflect on what’s next. You will build on the synthesising of this knowledge to formulate a  meaningful, ethical and imaginative response to your chosen issue in the field, producing a public communication for a real-world audience.
