Overview

This unit is the second part of a sequence progressing from the upper intermediate to the advanced levels of Japanese. In this unit, you will undertake activities built around topics relating to contemporary and historical topics of Japan. You will further develop your confidence using formal and academic Japanese both in written and oral forms, while communicating with Japanese-speaking people in interviews, and in-class oral presentations. You will reinforce 1006 kyōiku kanji. At the conclusion of this unit, you should have attained proficiency equivalent to JLPT N2 level and CEFR B2.

    Employ sophisticated research and critical thinking skills in analysis of aspects of Japanese current issues, literary studies or linguistics;

    Produce the ability to produce short texts (400-600 characters) in several genres including explanatory essays, poetry and position papers.
