Minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of scheduled learning activities and independent study. A unit requires on average three/four hours of scheduled activities per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher directed learning, peer directed learning and online engagement.
This unit consists of: online pre-class activities, a one-hour culture tutorial, and a two-hour language tutorial. In all sessions students are expected to participate actively, engaging critically with the material. Culture tutorials are run in English, with students from all four European languages taught at Monash (French, German, Italian, Spanish). Language tutorials are run in the LOTE that students are specializing in.
