    Analyse flow data.

  2. 2

    Formulate flood forecasting tools.

  3. 3

Simulate flow predictions using operational hydrologic models.

  4. 4

Generate flood level predictions using operational hydraulic models.

  5. 5

Apply the outputs to flood management.

Workload and teaching

  • Practical activities24 hours
  • Lectures12 hours
  • Teaching approachActive learning
  • Teaching approachIndustry-based learning

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.

All items discussed in the lectures are practiced in the practice classes and in the assignments.

We have four practitioners from the industry providing guest lectures.
