Perfusion principles and practices 1: Foundations
CVP5000
Synopsis
In this unit, you will be introduced to two foundational areas of perfusion practice: The equipment used for cardiopulmonary bypass and intraoperative blood management. You will develop a deep understanding of the history and operation of key bypass circuitry, equipment and techniques that will be encountered early in clinical training.
Mastery of these components in accordance with the Australian and New Zealand College of Perfusionists’ (ANZCP) Standards and Guidelines is essential for effective clinical practice. You will also learn about blood conservation and autotransfusion, which will be foundational skills underpinning your conduct of both cardiopulmonary bypass and cell salvage in the clinical environment.
