Synopsis
In this unit, you will explore a range of cardiovascular diseases and their relevance to perfusion practice. You will study structural and functional heart conditions as well as systemic pathologies which can impact clinical practice.
You will consider how these conditions and their associated pathophysiology influences cardiopulmonary bypass planning and patient outcomes. You will also examine complex scenarios involving shock states and multi-organ dysfunction, with a focus on their implications for perfusion strategy.
Through case-based learning, you will integrate knowledge from this unit with advanced clinical decision-making, building toward confident participation in high-acuity patient care.
