Overview

This unit develops your understanding of how you can respond to diversity in classrooms based on a range of characteristics and factors including learner’s physical, social and intellectual characteristics as well as linguistic, cultural, language, religious and socio-economic factors. You will develop knowledge and understanding of a repertoire of inclusive strategies for differentiating teaching in order to meet the specific learning needs of learners across the full range of abilities, and maximise the learning outcomes and full participation of all learners. You will develop and demonstrate understanding of legislative requirements that support participation of learners with disability.

When you finish this unit, you should be able to:

    develop understanding of a range of characteristics and factors including physical, social and intellectual characteristics, gender, language, religion, culture, race, sexual orientation, socio-economic status or disabilities that have an impact on learners' access to, participation in and learning outcomes at school

    develop personalised learning and support plans to support participation and engagement of all learners, including those with a disability

  4. 4

    demonstrate understanding of legislative requirements and teaching strategies that support participation and learning of learners with a disability

  5. 5

    evaluate teaching strategies that support the academic achievement and learning outcomes of all learners.
