Overview

This specialisation will prepare you to teach adolescents (12 – 18 years of age) in secondary schools from Year 7 to Year 12 as a specialist teacher in two teaching areas. Your two teaching areas will be determined by your unit choices within your partner degree. In Years 1 – 3 of this specialisation, you will gain the discipline content knowledge for your teaching areas, whereas in Year 4 you will learn how to teach effectively within your discipline areas. Throughout the course, you will focus on understanding how adolescents learn, which is as varied as the individual learner themselves, and you will develop adaptive and inclusive teaching practices to respond effectively to learner needs. You will be challenged to develop the capacity to make considered and effective professional decisions that are learner-focused. Responding to the ever-changing environment, you will explore ways to effectively integrate emerging and innovative digital technologies within the contemporary classroom.
