Overview
This specialisation will prepare you to teach adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age in secondary schools from Year 7 to Year 12 as a specialist teacher in two specialist teaching areas. You will specialise in two discipline areas and your unit choices within your partner degree will determine your specialist teaching areas as a secondary teacher. In Years 1-3 of this specialisation you will gain your discipline content knowledge. While in Year 4, the emphasis is on learning how to teach effectively within your discipline areas. Throughout, you will focus on understanding that how adolescents learn is as varied as the individual learner themselves, and you will develop adaptive teaching practices to respond effectively to learner needs. You will be challenged to develop the capacity to make considered and effective professional decisions which are learner focused. Responding to the ever changing environment, you will explore ways to effectively integrate emerging digital technologies within the contemporary classroom.
