Industry engagement: Part 2

EDF3406

Synopsis

This unit provides you the opportunity to employ what you have learned from previous units, and further develop your skills in readiness for working in learning design teams and in the professional workplace. Under the guidance of the faculty, you will find your own sites for industry engagement. It may be on-site or virtual, and where appropriate may also include deemed equivalent experiences such as client-based projects, study tours and internships.

A key focus for this industry engagement is the production of a design or element of a design under the supervision of an experienced industry mentor. In addition to working on this project you will be expected to join design meetings with your mentor, observing and participating in every aspect of the role.

This unit draws on all of the previous units and challenges you to test and reflect on your learning in an authentic industry context. It extends on your theoretical learning and connects it to the daily life of a learning designer. In recognition that learning designers need to be lifelong learners, this unit will also develop skills in reflective practice and identify areas of future personal and professional growth.
