Overview

This unit offers you the opportunity to learn about creative research methods and how to apply practical and theoretical knowledge to inquiry projects across school, workplace and community contexts. You will be introduced to the application of creative research methods in a variety of community contexts and then learn to apply it to a context of your choosing. You will learn about the expanding discourses and practices of arts-based research including video, games, social media, performance, ethnodrama and computer-mediated arts methods. You will also engage with contemporary post-qualitative theories. Using this knowledge, you will design and implement a small project. You will work collaboratively with an organisation or community learning group of relevance to you. You will be encouraged to critically examine the links between education, creative generation, community-building and social inclusion. No previous experience in the arts or prior organisational connections are necessary to participate in this unit.
